Horrible news: Dulcinea

The first I heard of her death was early Thursday morning. It was Big Sexy's message that made me think that she passed on the weekend or before. I'm just as confused, and I've heard nothing. It's been eating at me.

To put it in perspective, there's so much confusion amongst all my old colleagues. We all lost our jobs and either started new ones in numerous locations or left the company. Our network is sparse and scattered.

I for one, would like to know how they determined that she fell and hit her head?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I don't think Dulc and I had gotten to the point of "close", but I had gotten to the level of being comfortable enough with her that I could discuss pretty much anything. I was optimistic about the future of our friendship and I really enjoyed talking with her. Her off the charts smarts made her seem so outwardly clinical, but underneath all that is someone so very human, and it was great to know her that way.

Lately there have been few people I've felt like being around, and she was one of them.

I shall refrain from further public speculation.

A couple things that Maureen's sister said at the memorial reinforced all those nagging feelings, and I just have to be assured that those who matter will be successful at determining if there's something to this or not.

Remember, I was supposed to go out with Maureen on the evening of the 15th, and tried to contact her a number of times during the days prior. So news of her passing was perhaps a bit more of an OMG moment that I haven't been able to shake.

So now I'll simply shut up.

I think gae said something about doing something like that raven. I suggested a wake as well. Maybe a group toast to her and her contributions to the board.

FTR, Trav returns from Mexico this Saturday. The following weekend we'll be in Florida to see Anthony receive his Ph.D. I honestly don't know where Trav will be the rest of August, September and October, other than Durham.

Like I said upthread, we'll host and I'd like to do a potluck. Since Lew will probably attend, he can bring the pot. Or maybe Officer Jumper should do that?

I lost my very best friend last year, October 29th, at the age of 34. he had been sick most of the year, but what actually killed him had nothing to do with the sickness. He developed a blood clot that apparently passed to his lungs, killing him at his parent's home that Saturday morning.

For the weeks and even months after his death, I could not speak or hear his name without breaking into tears. Finally, almost 9 months later, although I still think about him nearly every day, I can at least talk about him with out losing my bearing. Every one told me then...time will help heal. I did not want to hear it, nor did I believe them. However, as usual, they were correct.

I hope that you too will find that time does heal. It's just getting through it that sucks.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I know exactly how you feel Katie. It was that way when I lost my mom and more recently when I lost Roc on 11/10. For weeks I just wanted to crawl into a hole somewhere. I could not talk about him or look at his photo without losing it. I can look at his photo album now and pretty much retain my composure. But if I pull the locks of hair out of the envelope I saved from him, I bawl like a baby. Some songs or random memories will sometimes hit me out of the blue too. Death sucks, at least for those left behind. One can only hope it's a great thing when it happens (as in going on to a better place or other dimension etc...)

I didn't realize Dulc had lost a child. Does anyone know about that? Was he an infant, or older?

I'm totally confused about this now too, Reason. Seeing that you may have been her closest friend on the board I feel for you.

I hope we get answers, but if we don't it doesn't change the fact that she's gone.
